Channel 5 pixelating
We've a bizarre problem - during evening viewing (doesn't happen in the day) the channel 5 platform channels pixelate.
We've been sent a hee 2TB Q box but still it happens - on live and when watching recordings, on the main box and the mini boxes.
The signal coming in shows as good and the cabling has been checked - we're now at a loss?!
Could it be the LNB?
Cheers all.

Re: Channel 5 pixelating
Forgive my typo - that should say 'new' 2TB box

Re: Channel 5 pixelating
I've since had the LNB changed but sadly all the Channel 5 platform channels still break up for a few seconds randomly - we've given up now!

Re: Channel 5 pixelating
We've had the same problem since December. We've had two sets of engineers come out. The second set of engineers seemed to know more about it saying that apparently in December channel 5 changed its frequency which ties in with when the problem started. If there are no internal devices interfering with the frequency than it could be interference from neighbouring properties or neighbouring businesses. I was told it wouldn't get any worse but today instead of pixelating I'm now getting a blue screen and message saying a trouble with this particular channel. Indeed I've spotted minor pixelating occasionally on channel 4 now as well so I'm not sure. If what they say is true that it is interference from external sources then what they said was to monitor when it happens to try and tie it in with anything nearby. However, there's nothing really you can do about it because you can't control external devices and the only thing you can perhaps do is get the engineer to move the satellite dish.

Re: Channel 5 pixelating
Thanks for all that, very interesting! For us tho we're totally detached and have no neighbours at all - but at least I'm beginning to feel better in the fact that it's not just us having the issues.

Re: Channel 5 pixelating
Yep not alone .... Stems from channel 5 changing frequency... Were about 5 minutes drive from hospital so think it could be something over there interfering. If it gets worse I may get them back to move the dish to see if that helps.

Re: Channel 5 pixelating
Update.... Now getting blue screen saying problem with satellite signal and now the one saying technical fault... Engineers said it wouldn't get any worse but definitely gotten worse now... Will have to call them out again so will let you know any further info..

Re: Channel 5 pixelating
We don't suffer with the blue screen issue, just the Ch.5 platform pixelating.

Re: Channel 5 pixelating
Hi, just digging up this old thread as I'm too getting this problem since before December 2023. Just spoke to sky tech but they're at a loss, didn't even mention channel 5 frequency change!! It's a pita having to find the program I've recorded then have to download from catchup
Im in the north east in case it's a geographical fault?
cheers

Re: Channel 5 pixelating
We've given up now TBH - it still does it so we just live with it, it's just a few seconds when it happens - still frustrating tho.

Re: Channel 5 pixelating
Thanks, it's more than just a couple of secs unfortunately, some recordings are unwatchable 🤨🤨
Thanks again

Re: Channel 5 pixelating
We had a local independent guy in who checked the cabling, changed the LNB and said the dish looked fine - hence we've given up.
I do wonder if their newer broadband over dish system would be different!?

Re: Channel 5 pixelating
Hi all just to add to the thread, I'm in south west and we are also having the intermittent problem. Has anyone tried a slightly larger dish ie zone 2 rather than zone 1? We also had the signal checked and it's at maximum. I also thought to change the LNB but reading the threads clearly may not be that.

Re: Channel 5 pixelating
I seem to recall that we changed to the larger dish a few years ago, not can't be 100% sure tho.
Ours still does it but we just live with it now.
