Can't get through security screening

I have an offer from Sky (by post and properly addressed) for a free upgrade from Sky+ to Sky Q but when I phone the number given, the auto-bot screening system rejects my phone number as 'unconfirmed' but then sends me a text to the exact same number. Other ID confirmation includes account password but it was having none of that either and I've changed it since. I'm wondering if my account is still linked to my landline number as Sky predates my use of a mobile phone. The number doesn't appear on my account but then nothing that does appear there seems to be accepted anyway! I've tried going through another Sky number but ended up in the same cycle, and the ChatBot just gave up.

I don't use the landline any more, but by some miracle, I think I remember the number.

Cheers

Re: Can't get through security screening

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more

hi @Strayfish

I don't know if this will help

If you can login to SKY.com

On my PC browser (not sure where on other platforms) there is a 'Person type' icon on the top right

WHen I clicked that I got a list of options, one of which is My Details

After Selecting that  Under the SKY Account section I have an option to  edit My telephone number

BTW You may wish to read some notes I have made for people considering switching from SKY +/HD to SKY Q

SKY +/HD to SKY Q

Re: Can't get through security screening

Yes, I've been up and down that - it gives my mobile as the only number associated with the account but screening says it can't confirm that number even though it's clearly there, I'm phoning from it, and it sent a text to it during the exchange.  A legacy number, the landline, seems to me the only other possibility and frankly I ran out of steam after several circuits with the auto response list! I'll have a look at your other suggestions when I get back to the thread, thank you.
