Can I stop the 5 GHz network switching itself back on
I have my own WiFi mesh and don't have sky broadband. To prevent SKy Q interfering with my mesh, I have accessed the admin settings to turn off the 5GHz WiFi network.
The Qbox keeps switching this back on. Anyone know how to prevent this happening so it stays off?

Do you have your Q box connected by Ethernet?

No it's connected by WiFi. Sky uses the 2.4 GHz band to connect to the router and the 5Ghz band to create it's own mesh. Come if you have sky broadband and/ or more than one sky Q. Otherwise it just interferes with other devices. It is only the 5GHz that I switch off

Q to Q connectivity (without using ethernet) requires 5G band. It will switch back on to communicate. Using a 3rd party mesh requires ethernet connection from node to prevent disconnects.
Change the channels on your router to prevent interference - Q uses 36 to 48. (Or you can narrow the width from 36 to 40 on the Q)

Re: Can I stop the 5 GHz network switching itself back on
Hi,
I only have a single Sky Q box so I don't need Q to Q connectivity. Rather than messing around with my router settings I want to turn the 5GHz band off on my Q box. As explained earlier I am able to turn it off but it periodically turns itself back on.

Yep, it does that and I am not aware of a way to totally prevent it, although I found hardwiring via Ethernet and turning all WiFi off seemed to "stick" longer than messing around with individual bands personally.

...but the Q box doesn't know that and is likely to be switching it on to check.
Changing your router is the only sure fire way.
