Hi there
im thinking about storing the box in cabinets next to the fireplace but wondered whether the sky q remote will still work. I've read conflicting opinions on this. Is it Bluetooth controlled? Does it also have infra red? I read that while it's Bluetooth the IR still does the sound!! So confused. It's a remote with the blue button.
many thanks

Hi @Laura341 the most important thing is whether the cabinet allows for adequate ventilation for the Sky Q box
The Sky Q remote will operate the Sky Q box whilst in a cupboard/cabinet as bluetooth doesn't need line of sight
But like I said your Sky Q box needs plenty of ventilation as it can easily overheat.

My thoughts exactly. Cupboard elsewhere maybe.

Thanks so much for your responses. It's a fireplace but has no fire in it. But still there isn't really any ventilation in the cupboard so that's something I will have to think about. Thanks again for your help

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreSky Q boxes use materials that can cope with the normal heat generated but you should always be able to place the palm of your hand on top of the box and not have to immediately lift it off.

Ok thank you I'll make sure it has space around it and see how it goes. Thanks again
