Hi,,
I have Sky Q and 3 mini boxes,
I recently installed an Annke DVR CCTV system, this uses Annke Vision app on my iPhone.
Both the Sky and CCTV are on the same home wifi network.
If I open the CCTV app at home it instantly freezes the sky mini boxes and they have to be unplugged and rebooted.
I can however use my laptop and connect to the main cctv unit ok, though this is hard wired ethernet.
I have checked for IP conflicts but this is not the cause, Some of the cameras are wifi but they seem to work ok not causing any minibox problems,, its just the phone app that gives issues.
Has any one had a similar experience, or knows if there is some setting that needs changing?
Thanks..

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out moreEDIT Just looked at specifications does not look as though it uses 5Ghz so the following can't be a problem, often mini box problems are caused by this clash.

Does your CCTV use 5Ghz, if so there is a possibility that if you are not on Sky broadband that there is a conflict between the default Sky Channel 36 and the CCTV. Probably nothing to do with this but worth exploring.

It sounds like there may be a network bandwidth or interference issue causing the Sky mini boxes to freeze when you use the Annke Vision app on your iPhone. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you could try:
Check the Wi-Fi signal strength: Make sure that both the Sky Q and Annke DVR CCTV system are connected to a strong Wi-Fi signal. You can use a Wi-Fi signal strength app to check the signal strength in the area where the mini boxes are located.
Check network bandwidth: The Annke Vision app may be using a lot of bandwidth on your network, causing other devices to slow down or freeze. You can try running a network speed test to check your network's bandwidth and make sure it's sufficient for both Sky Q and the Annke Vision app to operate smoothly.
Use a different Wi-Fi network: If possible, try connecting the Annke DVR CCTV system to a separate Wi-Fi network than the one that Sky Q is using. This can help to isolate any potential issues related to network interference or bandwidth.
Use a wired connection: If the above steps do not resolve the issue, you may want to consider using a wired connection for the Annke DVR CCTV system. This can help to eliminate any Wi-Fi interference and provide a more stable connection.
Contact support: If the issue persists, you may want to contact the support teams Annke DVR CCTV system for further assistance. They may be able to offer additional troubleshooting steps or help you to identify any underlying issues with your network setup.

Thanks for the tips,
I will have a look at the setup again in case I missed a conflict..
I have the Sky Broadband, yes it could be a bandwidth problem possibly as it is instant when I open the app..
I have ordered a new Annke box and will see if that helps, as adding more cameras, old box a good few yrs old now..
Otherwise Ill just use the wired link when at home. I have no issues when out and about with the app..
Cheers.. Boris..

Around 70mbps down and 10mbps up,
about 20 devices, but not all using much, phones, game machines, couple of cctv cams
dont get any lag if streaming youtube etc.
Thanks..

How many cameras do you have? DId some digging, each camera does take 2-3mbps upload so it might possibly be down to bandwith if not im guessing intefearance from something else which is why minis getting knocked off

currently 6 hard wired and 2 wifi,
It does not even get to the video download though, as soon as you click the app it freezes the boxes
wondering if it is to do with the mini boxes being used as access points now,
Thanks

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more@Boris2023Just a random thought, how many mini boxes do you have, if it is more than 2 I wonder if the app is trying to turn a third box on and failing, no idea how as I said a random thought.

yea possibly,, we have 3 of them,
funny thing is, if I use the wificam app it works ok, just when I try the Annke app, Im using the Annke to record the wifi cams so had been using that app as I can see all cams not just the wifi ones..
