Hi @onryctank

Depends on what your TV is capable of (assuming you are connected by HDMI direct to TV)

Dolby Digital is best unless your TV is capable of Dolby Atmos.

Home - Setting - Setup - Audio Visual.

HDMI

Digital Audio output format

Dolby Digital or Dolby Digital plus if TV is capable.

A basic TV may only accept Normal.

Does the sound from ones TV compare the same from the skyq box?

The SKY Q box does not have any sound volume control itself  & it relies on the TV or other sound equipment such as a Sound bar or separate Sound receiver..

It can output 3 diffrent sound formats as @oldfella mentions - Normal (Standard Stereo also known as PCM stereo, Dolby Digital - see para later re 5.1 sound & for some content Dolby Digital Plus used for a newer surround sound called Dolby Atmos)

For a direct comparison of Freeview channels vs the Freesat channels available via SKY Q - some Freesat channels via SKY Q will be better as there are more HD versions of the same channels and these use a Dolby Digital carrier rather than the odinary Stereo - but as @oldfella says it depends if your TV or Sound equipement can handle the Dolby Digital signal

Many channels on SKY Q  use surround sound often referred to as 5.1 to reflect the seperate channels available for speakers (Front Left /Centre/Front Right/ Rear Left / Rear Right & the .1 for a separate low frequency effects (LFE) channel for Subwoofers)

This 5.1  sound can sound far superior with dedicated sound systems such as Sound bars & separate AV amplifiers and some TVs will also give better sound - although some TVs struggle with the 5.1. sound and thus need to use the 'Normal' setting on SKY Q to listen in ordinary Stereo

Many of the additional channels you get on SKY Q use this 5.1 surround sound which, as I say,  can really enhance the experience with the right equipment but it really does depend on what you are using to listen to it

A TV traditionally has speakers which produce sound & allow you to hear the programmes you are watching,

A Sky Q box does not have speakers. You have to connect the box to a TV to see and hear them.
The quality of the sound is dependent on the quality of the speakers in the TV.
