Broadband and tv
Hi all. Ive no satellite signal from this afternoon, which is probably due to the bad weather, but ive also no broadband either despite the router showing that its ok. Ive checked everything. We have full fibre and to be honest we've had nothing only problems with our broadband and satellite over the years. We thought when the high speed cable went in that it would be the end of our problems with broadband. I definitely feel we need a new satellite dish as its been up for years. The last time I spoke to someone from sky I found him quite abrupt, he also promised me an extra booster but it never arrived. He said he felt our router was too far away from our main sky q box, hence the reaon for him sending a booster. We already have one booster to try and help. To be honest im totally disheartened with the entire setup. We've found that we have to go to our metre board to switch the electric off in our house just to get the system to reboot. That surely is not normal. Any help would be appreciated, although the men will come out and fix it and then itll break again.

Re: Broadband and tv
As you've posted in the Sky Q board I will advise on that. The broadband issue is unlikely to be connected.
With a “no satellite signal” error message, check that the connections from the Sky dish going into the back of your Sky Q box are still finger tight. Otherwise it’s very likely either;
▫️a dish misalignment,
▫️a failing LNB (on the arm of the dish),
▫️water getting into the cabling,
▫️very heavy rain or
▫️snow on the dish/LNB in winter
so check the troubleshooting on this link
https://www.sky.com/help/articles/sky-tv-no-satellite-signal-sky-q
It may then give you the opportunity to arrange an engineer. If it doesn’t you’ll need to contact Sky to book an engineer appointment.
If you are connected to a communal dish you need to liaise directly with your building management company or landlord who will have their approved engineers to contact direct.
It’s worth mentioning that:
🔹 a misalignment is not necessarily something that will be visible to the naked eye and could only affect one or two channels (amongst the first to be affected may be TNT or GB News),
🔹 adverse weather can affect the satellite signal and following such events wait times for an engineer will probably be significantly longer.
🔹a Sky Q box requires a periodic 'Keep alive' signal that is delivered via the satellite so if that isn’t received the box will close down until the satellite signal is restored.
