Sounds like a Message from The TV asking you to retune the channel?

Try the TV remote, the Sky one only changes channel and Volume.

No it's a message on the satellite version of BBC One SD (channel 801). It seems that some viewers are getting the SD version on 101 instead of 801, or still have recordings set to BBC One SD.

I saw that too. The only option is to record or download it from a BBC HD channel. The message is not removable unfortunately.

I believe it is now always on the SD channel via Satellite.

If you have SKY Q (or SKY HD) is there any reason you are watching an SD version of the BBC as there should now be HD versions of all their channels?

Thanks for your response . I have tried pressing 101 which I think is the BBC HD channel and the message is still there . If I go to 801 it disappears so I am watching on 801 now . I have a sky Q box so apparently I shouldn't even be getting the message .

hi @62jilly

Yes the HD channel should have switched with the SD channel on 101

May I suggest you try a power down restart of your SKY Q Box:

Use the remote to place it into standby mode

Then remove the power to it (either switch off at mains or remove the power plug)

 Wait at least 30s

Then re-apply the power & wait for it to fully restart - this may take a few minutes.

We still have not upgraded to Sky Q but surely there is some way to get rid of this message , it takes up a third of the screen .

Sprry @Marbre  but the BBC seem to be really keen that everyone is aware that the SD channel will close down in early 2024 and that to keep watching you will need to get equipement that can show the HD channels (that are already availble)  & ideally switch now.

@Marbre if you want to stick with Sky+ the HD channels are available on a Sky+HD boxes. If you don't have one, you can purchase a used Sky+HD box from ebay etc at reasonable cost. Look for a DRX890 or DRX895 model. Don't pay more than around £30

What sky kit are you using?

The banner is in the original BBC broadcast so no, there's no way to get rid of it on the SD channel.

Thanks for this. Absolutely right. The message appears on all SD BBC  versions so I just had to cancel the recordings on SD and instead, make sure I was watching from HD. Even iPlayer is HD. Easy fix

Re: BBC upgrade message . How do you get rid of it please ?

I receive BBC channels on a SkyQ HD box from Ireland. I invariably watch BBC HD but when I record from BBC HD I invariably get the message and it's extremely annoying.
