I receive BBC channels on a SkyQ HD box from Ireland. I invariably watch BBC HD but when I record from BBC HD I invariably get the message and it's extremely annoying.

You're not recording HD in that case.

As above you're recording from the SD channel if you see the upgrade message. Cancel your recordings and re-schedule them on channel 101. If you're using Sky Go to set remote recordings you may need to use channel 801 for BBC OIne HD.

Please note @JamesCorbett that if you are setting the recordings via the SKY Go app it seems to default to the SD channel

Don't know why they claim they can't remove it, they put it there. It didn't just appear by itself!

Message on screen re BBC's upgrade message in Jan 2024 . I have tried numerous buttons to get rid of it but nothing works . Anyone know what to do please?

BBC put it there to inform Sky and Freesat users that the SD channel will be closing in January. Otherwise another group of people would be going mad with "why didn't they inform us!!" if the SD channels closed without warning in January.

The message will not be removed now but can easily be avoided by watching/recording the HD channel.

A banner or other overlay (such as BSL signing) applied to a broadcast cannot be removed from a recording of that broadcast because once on disk it's an intrinsic part of the data making up the video output.

@0ldgit

The app might have recorded the SD channels as some of the stations on the app are reversed so while you might have thought you were recording an HD channel you are actually recording the SD channel.

Re: BBC upgrade message . How do you get rid of it please ?

My mum asked me tonight how she gets really dnof this message as it's taking up a lot of the screen. Her BBC1 shows as channel 101 on sky, presumably this isn't HD, but BBC2 shows as HD and therefore doesn't have the message. I looked up the message and it seems that it may be due to her sky box? It does seem a bit over the top that she can't get rid of this message.

How do you watch a hd channel though? My mum has channel 101 (BBC1) which isn't HD apparently, but 102 (BBC2) is HD, how does she get the HD BBC1?

101 should absolutely be HD. Has been for months. Make sure she is on the latest software version (q.230) and try powering the box off at the wall and back on to try to get it to rebuild the TV Guide.

hi @Juleshc6

As @Chodley  mentions please try a reboot - if that doesn't get BBC1 HD on 101 try looking at channel 801 (or around the 800s)
