BBC Teletext

Have just moved from a Sky+ box to SkyQ. Unfortunately I cannot find a way to view the BBC teletext service. Is this possible with the SkyQ box ? I miss not having it.

Thank you.

Teletext hasn't existed for many years, but what you used to get on Sky+ isn't available on Sky Q.

Re: BBC Teletext

I can't see it on Sky Q but telextext does exist if you watch on BBC1 or 2 via a conventional aerial. Mind you the level and accuracy of information is slowly declining

Teletext, which operated on ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5 ceased in 2009.

BBC s teletext service, Ceefax, ceased in 2012 with the switchover to Digital TV. It's replacement, BBC Red Button text service is still available on Sky+HD Boxes and older TV's. It was scheduled to close in 2020, hence was never incorporated into Sky Q boxes, but earned a reprieve following customer complaints.

Actually there was BBC 'interactive text' on Q, but a firmware update removed it in the interval between closure announcement and BBC climbdown : for some reason known only to the Beeb and Sky this was never reversed.

There's some interesting context here:
