My Sky Q box sound has been dropping for the last couple of weeks. As suggested here are the answers to your questions.
1) Discovery HD & History HD on most programmes
2) It happens everyday at various times.
3) Sound runs through Zvox soundbar
4) Runs on Dolby Digital. Doesn't drop when on normal setting
5) Yes
6) Cuts out approx every 8 minutes for 20seconds.
7) When sound is dropping out it happens during program and adverse.
We have checked connections and rebooted with no improvement.
This problem is stopping us from watching these channels when playing up.

It's clear by now that this is not a user specific issue. Sky need to address this as a matter of priority. I have given up watching Discovery and resorted to the streaming alternative which is unacceptable.

Totally agree. As i said before customers with different set up's, various makes of TV's & Soundbars all experiance this issue. Sky couldnt care less but still happy to charge for a sub standard viewing experiance.

Oh dear. Thought I'd swing by to see if it's fixed yet but sad to see it isn't. Sad but not really surprised. All I can add is that disabling DD by switching audio output to Normal continues to almost completely resolve the problem. There are still some brief drop-outs but they are barely noticeable.

I'll give that a try for research purposes, but that's in no way a fix. Sky, are you listening?

Big software update a couple of days ago. Just been watching Deadliest Catch and not getting any dropouts so far.
Can anyone else verify this software version, and still have dropouts? TIA.
23 Jul 2024 08:33 PM
@Area255 I have the same software version as shown in your message, now watching Discovery, Wheeler Dealers World Tour and the sound drops are still there from time to time both in the programme and the adverts. I already had Dolby Digital switched off.

That's really disappointing! I would have bet that the update fixed it, as I had this issue for months, and now not a single issue. Not a single drop out.

Sadly, I spoke too soon. The cutting out is still happening exactly as before.
11 Aug 2024 05:43 PM
Yeah its still cutting out with me with same software version as you.
As usual Sky not Interested in sorting a fix.

SKY! COME ON! PLEASE LISTEN AND ACT! THERE'S LITTLE POINT TO THIS COMMUNITY FORUM IF YOU DON'T FULLY ENGAGE. PLEASE CAN YOU RESOLVE? THANK YOU!

I've also been having this issue for a while. I took to watching via the Discovery app instead in the hope a fix would be deployed but when I tested tonight on my SkyQ mini box, it's still there.

I'm not so sure that this is a priority issue for Sky, as it only appears to impact Sky Q customers, a retired service they have no interest in fixing,
If this was Sky Glass or Sky Streaming, you could be assured of immediate attention.
Been a Sky customer for over 25 years, when my current contract ends, I will go elsewhere. There are better deals out there through other providers who can still provide you with Sports, Movies etc.
It's such a poor customer experience when they don't take customer issues seriously.
