Are recordings linked to viewing card?

Hi,

I've been having issues with my viewing card for a while and Sky have finally sent out a new one... however I'm not sure if I will lose all my recordings? I assume they're linked to the box rather than the card but I'm not 100%!

Thanks

Your recordings are stored on the hard drive on the box. The viewing card merely links your SkyID and billing/account details to the box, allowing it to function. Even with a new viewing card number you will still be able to access your recordings. It's only when the box itself has to be replaced that you lose your recordings.

Re: Are recordings linked to viewing card?

Hi, Is there anyway to transfer the recordings from one box to another? I'm due a box upgarde and don't want to lose all my recordings and downloads.

No, swapping the box means you will lose all recordings and downloads as they are stored on the hard drive.

I would recommend making a note of everything you have, so you can see what is available to download again or watch on demand after the swap.

Good clarification!

Anything you have recorded will be lost, but anything available on demand can be downloaded again and this includes any purchases from Sky Store.
