Another Sky Q with Gigaclear Compatiblilty Question...

Hi All,

I have read as much here as I can find but I have a couple of questions about if I decide to switch from Sky broadband to Gigaclear fibre. I have broadband, Sky Q and home phone through Sky.

1. Would I be able to split out my broadband service to Gigaclear but still retain the phone connection through Sky?

2. Would I be able to retain exactly the same Sky packages (I have all of them!) at the same price?

3. The critical question: I have one mini-box in a 2nd room. I have learnt on this forum that mesh conflicts mean I would need to use the 2.4GHz band to connect it to the main Q box, and that this is pretty useless for streaming. Fine, I am happy to lose the mini box. So, assuming all I have is the main Q box, does its wifi link to the Gigaclear router (or whatever they call it) also get strangled in the same way or am I just getting confused about various meshes?

4. If I can get Gigaclear to make the fibre enter the house near my Q box, I guess it is more preferable to plug the ethernet cable from Gigaclear into the Q box?

5. If I can't make this happen, do Gigaclear wifi nodes have an ethernet socket? Is it feasible to place a node near the Q box and then use a cable into the Q box? And does that make any difference to speed?

Sorry, lots of questions. Bottom line on the technical side of things: what is the optimum set up for a Q box with Gigaclear? Wifi or wired? Will mini-box ever work or not? Do nodes give me more options?

Suggestions welcome!

Jacko
