Amazon/Spotify Apps

Hi,both my Sky Q box and mini multiroom box have issues with the music apps...Amazon music app starts to open then goes to black screen and stays that way on both boxes...the Spotify app pauses playing after about 6 tracks on the mini box (which i seem to remember is an old issue from a previous box).I have done an app refresh on both boxes,still the same,what is the resolution for this please?

Hi all,

 

Has there been any improvement to this since you last posted? Amazon Music have advised they made a small change to the Sign In process that might have caused this and I wanted to check in to see if there has been any improvements on your end 🙂

Solution black screen Amazon Music App

Last month I posted that my Amazon Music app was working without any issues 11th February on the Sky Q box

 

Fired up the app at the weekend and faced with a black screen after the Amazon Music Logo and nothing else two days later still the same black screen nothing else 

 

Selected Amazon music within the apps section used voice control for Amazon Music still the same black screen

 

Decided to try the Audio and Music section before doing the refresh apps route 

Home - Audio and Music scroll right twice then scroll down to Music playlists then select any Amazon Music tile within the list.

Then press the back button and you should be at the Amazon Music home screen 

Back out of the app completely then select Apps then select Amazon music and you are faced with the same black screen again 

Repeat from Audio and Music as this is the only way to access Amazon Music app without getting the black screen 

Even tried signing out of the app and signing back in again still the same black screen once it refreshes 

So until Sky/Amazon get a fix the only option that works at the moment is via Music Playlists  and selecting  Amazon music

Hi @Phil1812 Try rebooting your router by removing the power cable for 30 sec then reconnect to reboot, then reboot your main SKYQ box by turning the power off at the socket for 30 sec then turn back on to reboot, do the same with any Mini boxes?

Oddly, I've been having this issue this morning.
Did that a few times.

Not seen any problems with Spotify since that last 'track stall' problem we all had and reported on here.
Use it on the Sky Q box regularly.
A box restart seemed to have cured it for now.

It was working correctly 11th February I'm know faced with the black screen

@Phil1812 rebooting the boxes didn't work for me either but the work around posted above does work obviously not the solution you want with regards to the Amazon Music app via the Sky Q boxes 

Don't have an issue with Spotify as I tend to cast to the Sky Q box from my phone.

Is it really Sky who need to resolve it or Amazon seeing as we pay Amazon for the Music app not Sky

Hi,I have contacted Amazon who say that this is the responsibility of Sky as it is a pre-installed Sky Q app....?

Hi, it's 6 months later and I seem to be having the same issue. I have set up the Sky Stream box and am getting the black screen when trying to open Amazon Music. Tried the above resolution steps but nothing seems to be working.

Hi Asdaz,that particular issue was resolved in my case by a software tweak by Amazon themselves.However other stalling,juddering issues on Amazon music and Spotify have not been resolved,even with a replacement mini box!...I have actually given up now and use a different streamer instead,not good!
