I have just discovered that all my programs that were recorded prior to 2023 have been deleted. I have lost a lot of recordings but I know I still had disc space available. Hoping some can help.

You could try a full reboot (remove power supply, wait, restore power)
It's worth remembering that the single hard disk drive in any Sky box isn't intended to be a long term media archive: it's there to facilitate time-shifted live viewing / downloading of on-demand content, and has no particular reliability or any form of redundancy or backup.
