2025 The Frame TV causing issues with Sky Q mini boxes

I have had Sky Q (main, plus 2 mini's) for about 7 years now with no issues. I purchased a new 2025 55" Samsung The Frame TV and now both mini boxes are massively laggy and often drop out completely. The main Sky Q box is fine. I've disabled all settings I can think of on the TV and it made no difference - that is until I disable the network. Be it wired or WiFi, when the network is connected it causes havoc with the mini boxes. The second I disable the network the mini boxes are great again. I've checked for software updates on both TV and Sky Q but this hasn't helped. I tried putting the HDMI into hdmi 3, tried enhanced input turned on and off, CEC is off, power saving off, etc. Just the second that the network is turned on, both boxes turn to mush! It's not an IP address conflict as they are well apart from each other. HDMI cables have been changed to high quality, high speed ones but no difference. Does anyone have any additional suggestions?

Re: 2025 The Frame TV causing issues with Sky Q mini boxes

I had the same problem with my new 2024 QN95D which replaced a 2021 Q85. The wifi is turned off on the mini boxes and main box and I use tplink mains ethernet units to connect them instead. The new  tv whether using the WiFi or mains ethernet would ruin the mini boxes.

What you need to do is separate the sky q and minibox from the TV in your network. If you do what I do and use mains ethernet adaptors for the sky q boxes and WiFi for the TV then you need to use a managed switch to keep them separate to the router. I used a net gear GS305E which I got from amazon for less than £20. All the ethernet leads going into your router go into the switch instead and you connect the two with a single ethernet lead.

You set it up to have 2 vlans (it's really easy you just created two vlans and tick which switch  ports are assinged to each) one for the sky ethernet connection from the mains ethernet and one for the anything else plugged into the switch. The port connecting the switch to the router exists in both vlans. Set your TV to use wifi and your good to go. Fitted mine Sunday mini boxes have been perfect since.

Re: 2025 The Frame TV causing issues with Sky Q mini boxes

Thanks for this. Unfortunately that won't work for me as I'm using a Control system (Control4) which uses an IP driver to control the Sky boxes and also to turn on/off and operate the volume on the TV so I need both to be on the same VLAN. I tried setting up using inter-VLAN routing but the control system then doesn't see the TV so doesn't work. I'll have to wait for Sky or Samsung to release a fix I think. Thanks anyway.
