Not getting Sky Smart Home notifications – or getting too many?

Sky Smart Home notifications are designed to keep you informed about what’s happening at home – from motion detected by your camera to alerts from your sensors.

But if notifications aren’t coming through, or you’re getting more than you’d like, there are a few simple things you can check and adjust in the Sky Smart Home app.

Here’s a helpful overview of how notifications work, and how you can make them work better for you.

First things first: check your phone settings

Before looking in the app, it’s worth making sure your phone is set up to receive notifications.
On your phone:
  • Open Settings
  • Find Sky Smart Home App
  • Make sure Notifications are turned On
If you’re using an iPhone, you can also choose how alerts appear – such as on your Lock Screen, as banners, or with sounds – under Alerts.

Make sure your devices are set up correctly

For sensors and the Indoor Camera to send notifications, they need to be connected properly.
  • Plug the Sensor Bridge into the back of your Indoor Camera
  • The Indoor Camera must be armed for notifications to be sent
This connection allows your sensors and camera to communicate and send alerts to your phone.

Check your connectivity

A weak or unstable connection can delay notifications or stop them coming through altogether.
To help avoid this:
  • Make sure all devices are fully set up in the app
  • Check that your WiFi signal is strong and stable
If you’re testing a Video Doorbell, you can do a quick check by bringing it close to your router and ringing it. With the app closed, the notification should come through quickly if connectivity isn’t the issue.

Getting too many (or too few) notifications?

You can customise how often you receive alerts, and what triggers them, for each device.

Activity Zones (Video Doorbell & Indoor Camera)

Activity Zones let you choose exactly where motion is detected.
To set one up:
  1. Open the device’s live feed
  2. Tap Settings
  3. Select Activity Zones
  4. Turn it on and adjust the area
This can help reduce alerts from passing traffic or movement you’re not interested in.

Adjust Indoor Camera sensitivity

You can also control how sensitive your Indoor Camera is to motion and sound.

To adjust this:
  1. Go to Home
  2. Select your Indoor Camera
  3. Open Settings
  4. Choose Video Recording Settings
  5. Adjust the Motion and Sound Detection sliders
Lower sensitivity can mean fewer alerts, while higher sensitivity helps catch more activity.

Sensor notifications

Each sensor can be managed individually.
For Leak, Motion or Contact Sensors:
  • Open the sensor in the app
  • Go to Settings
  • Toggle Push Notifications on or off
This gives you control over exactly which sensors notify you.

Arming settings can affect notifications

If you’re receiving notifications when you don’t expect them, your arming settings may be the reason.
  • Video Doorbell: always on
  • Indoor Camera: only sends notifications when armed
You can choose how arming works:
  • Manually arm devices from the Sky Protect home screen
  • Arm at set times using schedules
  • Automatically arm when you leave home and disarm when you return
Adding household members in the People tab helps the app understand when someone is home.
