If you’ve got a Sky Indoor Camera, you’re in control of when it records and sends alerts. Unlike the Sky Smart Doorbell, which is always on, Indoor Cameras (and any connected motion or contact sensors) can be armed and disarmed in a few different ways using the Sky Smart Home app.
Here’s a simple breakdown of the arming options available, what they mean, and how to choose the right one for your home.
What does “arming” mean?
Arming controls when your Indoor Camera records activity and sends alerts. When your camera is armed, it’s actively monitoring your home. When it’s disarmed, it won’t record or notify you.
The Sky Smart Home app gives you three ways to manage this:
- Manual Arming
- Auto Arming
- Security Scheduling
Each option suits a different routine.
Manual Arming
Manual arming lets you turn your Indoor Camera on or off whenever you want.
When should I use this?
- If you prefer to stay fully in control
- If your routine changes often
How to manually arm your camera
- Open the Sky Smart Home app
- Use the arm toggle at the top of your Indoor Camera screen
- When armed, the toggle turns blue
Good to know
- Manual arming overrides Auto Arming and Security Scheduling
- You can manually arm your camera even if other options are set up
Auto Arming
Auto Arming uses your phone’s location to arm your devices when everyone leaves home, and disarm them when the first person returns.
When should I use this?
- If you want arming to happen automatically
- Ideal if you don’t want to remember to switch it on and off
How to set up Auto Arming
- Open the Sky Smart Home app
- Go to Settings
- Select Auto Arming
- Toggle it on
You’ll be asked for permission to use your phone’s location. You can also adjust the home radius on the map to decide when arming kicks in.
Good to know
- Make sure Manual Arming on the home screen is turned off to avoid conflicts
- Everyone using the app needs Auto Arming set up on their own phone for it to work properly
Security Scheduling (arming at set times)
Security Scheduling arms and disarms your home automatically at times you choose.
When should I use this?
- If you want your camera armed at the same times each day
- Useful for regular routines, like overnight or working hours
How to set up Security Scheduling
- Open the Sky Smart Home app
- Go to Settings
- Select Security Scheduling
- Set your preferred arm and disarm times
- Tap Save
Good to know
- If Auto Arming is enabled, it takes priority over schedules
- If you leave home during a scheduled disarm time, your home will stay armed and disarm when you return
Arming priority – how it all works together
If more than one arming option is turned on, this is the order they apply:
- Manual Arming – always takes priority
- Auto Arming – overrides Security Scheduling
- Security Scheduling – only applies when the other two are off
This means you can confidently mix options, knowing which one will be in control.
