roaming charges abroad

I have come on holiday to greece and i am experiencing a problem that's causing me alot of stress. I flew to greece on the 3rd of april and before leaving the uk i turned my mobile data off and turned airplane mode on as that is what i was told to do before my flight. When i arrived in greece i turned airplane mode off and my mobile data was also still turned off. When i arrived to my villa i am staying at in greece i connected to the villas wifi. When i connected to the villas wifi all my notifications was coming through and i noticed i had a text message from sky saying welcome to greece and then the usual information about roaming, passport plus and charges. I read the text and left it as i had no intentions on using my mobile data or the passport plus plan while in greece as firstly im using the villa wifi so i dont need to use my mobile data or roaming and secondly i did not want to be charged extra. However today is the 6th of april so it is my 3rd day here and my dad has received a text message today from sky saying the bill on my mobile is £60. I have not used or turned on my mobile data and have not turned on roaming whilst i've been in greece so why am i being charged and why is it this much? I now do not know what to do for the rest of my holiday in greece because of this situation.

Personally this has confused and stressed me a lot and i would like to know if i could have help sorting it please as i don't think this is fair. Also i do not have a sky account or access to the sky account for my mobile phone, my dad has the account and deals with it all so the info will not be on this account. I just made this account to be able to send this message.

@skye07 I don't think the Sky staff on the forum would be able to assist as you are not the account holder, you will need to get your dad to contact Sky to see what has caused the charges to be applied, the only way I can think of getting charged is if you've made any local calls using your mobile.

Re: roaming charges abroad

When you get out of contract go to provider that doesn't charge roaming. I have 3 contracts for family and will be leaving as soon as I can due to this charge
