It shouldn't be blank so try this:

Go to sky.com/networksettings (My Account > Mobile > Settings) and sign in with your Sky iD.
Select the mobile number or SIM name you're having trouble with.
Scroll to 'Resend network settings' and select Request settings.
Save the settings when your receive them and reboot your phone.

Is your phone status set to abroad:

Apple:
Settings > Mobile Service > SIM Applications > Make sure this is set to Abroad.

Android:
Sky Menu App or SIM toolkit > Roaming > Make sure this is set to Abroad.

If it is have you had it scan for all available networls to see if it will connect to a different one and then work ?

Re: refreshing SIM data

Thanks @caesarome. I've switched it onto 3G network only and it's not throwing the messages any more. Forced Stop on Messaging app to stop that one.

But I guess no data on 3G?

Should access point be named?

 Currently not selected and blank?
