Why have been charged

I was put on a new sky package recently which included a 10.00 mobile credit.  I have been charged 5.00 and do not know why

What was the credit for? Your itemised bill should explain what it's for.

Arevyounin the YK when sending these texts and are they ones you have sent to other  UK mobiles ?

Texts are, but sending chargeable picture messages (MMS) aren't and are 95p each.
