Using iPhone camera abroad and being charged!

I'm in Lanzarote and took a photo of some perfume in a shop and was then notified by text that my data roaming at £2 a day had just started!

can someone please explain why this has happened?

many thanks in advance

Hi @MD147  the £2 charge activates when you make a call, send a text message or use a small amount of data. We can't say for sure why you have been charged but do you have your photos syncing with your I cloud back up ? That could trigger the charge but you would need data and roaming on I would have thought ?

@MD147

Did you have mobile data turned on or also sent the image in a text message ?

@MD147

Simply because you're abroad in a Roaming Passport Plus country and used some data..

It should cost you £2 for each 24 hours use of your home allowance.

You need to ensure roaming and mobile data are turned on in your phone settings and it will kick in when you send a text, make a call or use a small amount of data. Set any spend cap to cover the total number of days you are there. Remember that calls to local numbers are charged extra at international rates and there is now a limit on data use of 25GB per billing period, after which Sky can charge you an extra £2.50 per GB or even suspend your useage duel to overuse.
