Texts abroad with data roaming off

I have forgotten to switch my daughters data roaming on and she has gone abroad. Will she be able to receive a text from me with instructions to turn it on with data roaming off?

Hi @LMD103  she should, does she have WhatsApp ? If she has you could also try sending one and when she on local WiFi she will receive it. What country is she in as it could be very expensive activating data roaming.

She's currently on a coach driving through France to get to Switzerland

If I his is a school trip do you not have a number for the teachers leasing the trip or the organiser @LMD103  ? If you can't reach your daughter try them. You could also try calling your daughter to tell her.

I've sent her a text which she must have got as she has sent me a snap chat.

If you weren't aware it will cost £2 for each 24 hours use of her home allowance. Calls to uk numbers are included but if she were to call local numbers they would be charged at international rates. Make sure the spend cap on her account is set high enough to cover the daily charge for the time she is there.

She will only be calling home and messaging her friends at home, no local numbers. Does the £2 roaming passport kick in automatically once she has used her phone?

Yes @LMD103  once she sends a text, makes a call or uses a small amount of data.
