Terrible data connection when commuting

Hey Sky.  On my commute (from Surrey to London Waterloo), Sky Mobile data is almost totally unusable in rush hour.  My friend finds the same with his EE.  It used to just be a problem around Surbiton last year.  Now it's very poor for most of the journey.  It's not a big problem on Fridays or weekends.  It's ok at Clapham Junction.  The coverage map is fine and I see "bars" for coverage throughout the journey.  But websites and emails don't load.  Sometimes toggling airplane mode on/off helps briefly - presumably switches to a less busy mast.  Is EE network capacity getting overloaded with congestion?

Hi @Matt313  it could be congestion on masts. In case you weren't aware sky use the O2 network.

Fair point about O2.  But what's the solution to congestion?  Can the network provider increase capacity?

O2 possibly can but it's partly out of Skys control as they do t own the infrastructure and are reliant on O2 @Matt313

Would be great to get a reply from a Sky employee.  They must surely have service level agreements with their network provider.

Possibly but the important part is that no SLA is given to th consumer (it's not a business contract).

When I used to commute I got used to the dead spots.  But most trains have WiFi now?  (Which can also suffer similar reception issues)

I am just another Sky customer and my views are my own even if you don't like the answers
