Taking on an iPhone 16 Pro contract with current SIM-only contract

I currently have a Sky Mobile SIM-only contract.

I want to upgrade my iPhone 7 (with that SIM) to an iPhone 16 Pro.

What's the best way do that?   The Sky Mobile site doesn't appear to offer that 'phone on a SIM-free deal, so can I have my existing number (which I've had since pre-07 days) transferred to a new 'phone contract?  And how to effect this?

TIA

As mentioned @smokey-paul  if you order a new sim/plan that will come with a new number. You can't port your old number to the new plan, if you call sky they may apply the new plan to your old sim, call on 150. If they won't apply it then your other option is to activate the new sim then port your old number to a different network on PAYG then port it back to the new sim.

Hi @smokey-paul  if you are logged into your account when trying to place the order there should be an option to not include a sim. If that option isn't showing then if you choose the minimum price one and when it arrives then don't activate it and it will drop off your account. You can then use your old sim/plan.

Re: Taking on an iPhone 16 Pro contract with current SIM-only contract

Thanks for your reply.

There is only a no data plan option, not a no-SIM option when ordering (I am logged in and was offered money off from my Piggybank).

Presumably though, the monthly fee includes the line charge (i.e., for the number on the included SIM) and not activating that will not remove that charge, so I'd be paying monthly for two lines (SIMs), which I don't want to do.

I presume the nano-SIM from my iPhone 7 will simply slot into the 16 Pro, as it doesn't appear to come with an e-SIM.

Again, many thanks for your assistance.

Yes @smokey-paul  choose the no data plan option. The cost shown will then be for the new phone. Yes your nano sim will fit. You will need to add the cost of your current sim/plan to the new device cost to find your total monthly cost.

Re: Taking on an iPhone 16 Pro contract with current SIM-only contract

Ah ha, thanks.  That isn't clear in the ordering process.

As my current SIM-only plan is more expensive than a new equivalent data plan, I will go with a new plan, but only if I can swap my existing number onto the new SIM.  Is that possible please and how?  I am too far from a Sky Mobile shop and have a hearing impairment that makes talking to a call centre a challenge on both sides.

Thank you for your continued assistance, it is much appreciated.

@smokey-paul

You can't move your number directly between two Sky sims so if you were to order a new sim then only way would be to transfer the number to a PAYG network then back again to the new Sky sim,
