Re: Roaming charges
Unfortunately you've incurred these charges by not having your mobile on the correct settings prior to leaving the UK. Presumably you've travelled to a 'Rest Of The World' destination when that amount can be spent in a matter of minutes.
From Skys own website…
Roaming in the rest of the world
At your destination, you'll be charged 'Rest of the World' roaming charges for any calls, texts and data you use.
How it works
Roaming charges will automatically apply when you're at your destination and you:
- make a call; or
- receive a call; or
- send a text (SMS); or
- send a picture message (MMS); or
- use mobile data
Any roaming charges will be added to your next bill.
Don't want to be charged for roaming? Just turn off data roaming and mobile data in your phone settings before you get to your destination. And don’t call or text while you’re away.

Re: Roaming charges
Hi @Dan_Dan if your phone connected to a local network on arrival at your destination then unfortunately you are liable for the charges and will have to pay. If you don't pay your services could be restricted until you do pay. Sky don't accept promises to pay no matter what the CS operators may say on the phone.
In future make sure roaming and mobile data are switched off and flight mode activated before leaving the uk then just turn on WiFi when it's available, still keeping flight mode on.
