Roaming Charges

I had a notification from the My Sky app yesterday saying I could now roam in 120 countries using my current data plan at no extra cost. However, when I clicked on the notification it too me to the app main page rather than to a page about the roaming to find out more.

Did anyone else get the notification? Or shed any light on it as I cannot see any articles around the update anywhere making me think it was sent in error perhaps.

cheers

Hi @Paddywhelan3  i haven't seen any announcements from sky to say this, they have added extra countries to the roaming passport plus list charging £2 for 24 hours use but I haven't seen or can find anything relating to the introduction of free roaming.

@Paddywhelan3

All countries and charges are shown here:

Other than that I can't find any articles about it.

From OP's name I would guess ROI.

And here's the page: https://www.sky.com/help/articles/mobile-roi-roaming-charges

...and it seems like inclusive:

Roam Like Home

All Sky Mobile customers can roam in 44 European destinations and in the UK at no extra cost. Use your data and unlimited standard calls and texts just as you would at home.

I am just another Sky customer and my views are my own even if you don't like the answers

Yeah @PandJ2020  occurred to me after posting as I remembered that ROI (being in EU) still have free roaming.

Re: Roaming Charges

I recieved a message.
Grear news! Sky mobile customers can now roam in 120 destinations. Use your phone as normal on arrival

I assumed that it meant that you could use your existing plan as normal with no charges but I can't find anything anywhere that says this. So assuming that the message is incorrect or badly worded.

@Tcl2

It is not the best worded email as what it means is 120 countries have been added to Roaming passport plus destinations.

Re: Roaming Charges

I'm glad I'm not the only one who got the notification. I don't see how some providers let you roam 'EU' for free and others don't, like Sky.

can't help but think they are missing a big trick here, similar to how the done offer eSIMs for watches etc.

At the end of the day it's a financial decision: 'roaming' has a cost to the company which issued the SIM which they can choose to either absorb or pass on to subscribers.
