Return / Laptop Contract

Not sure if this is in the right place but I've got a laptop from sky told them I want to return it within the 31 days and they have said I've got 14 days from when the packaging arrives to return, is it correct if I don't return within that 14 days my contract will just continue or is it cancelled now, as I've read in some places that if you don't return the contract will just continue, is this correct?.

Cancelling within the cooling off period requires the item to be returned (and checked) before the contract is terminated.

There may be deductions if the item has been used.
