Poor cell service

In theory, I should have great cell service according to our providers. On truth I ger 0-1 bar indoors, 1-2 bars at one spot by a tree half way up the garden and 2 bars in the middle of the very busy road out front. Effectively,  I can't make a phone call without going outside and it generally drops out.  Do service providers have any responsibility to deliver what the checkers state? I seem to be paying for nothing! Do they do anything when issues are raised? Is there a booster on the market to assist?

As I said, according to the checker, we have great coverage!! They say it should be really good, problem is, it's not! I have been right through the phone settings, downloaded Network Cell Info Lite. This indicates 20 poor signal reports today!!! Cellphone almost consistently in the red zone -107. I walked right round the property with it.  I have little or no service!

You keep mentioning 'cell service' which is a term more commonly used in the USA. Can you confirm you're based in the UK or Republic of Ireland?

-107dBm isn't actually too bad on 4G, it can work right down to -130dBm. 

 

Sky Mobile uses the O2 network which generally has excellent coverage for calls, slow data is its main weakness.

The checker says more than just coverage.

 

Might be worth submitting a report as it could be a faulty mast in your area that hasn't been reported.  Hit 'Report a problem'.

I am just another Sky customer and my views are my own even if you don't like the answers
