Phone down the toilet

 My phone fell down the toilet yesterday,only for a few seconds.  At first it seemed to still be working but after 10 mins it stopped working.  I put it in a container of rice overnight but it still doesn't seem to be working.  I need my phone, as only contact I have & I am worried I won't be able to get any of my personal info off my phone. 

Does anyone have any suggestions?

If it's a smartphone (either Android or iOS) then it should have been backing up to an online account.
