I’m new to the Sky phone service and the payment date didn’t match the date I get paid at work, so I paid manually before the direct debit was taken from my account, as I knew there wouldn’t be enough funds in my account. I paid, but they kept trying to charge my account even though the balance was at zero. OK, I understand it’s automatic, but my question is whether they’ll charge me double next month because, even though I’ve already paid, they’re still trying to take the payment, and I don’t want it to cause any problems with my line, let alone be charged double next month.

The payment you made will go onto your account as a credit so if Sky do take the payment via the direct debit and they will try this up to 10 days later if the first attempt fails then the credit will be used to pay the next bill.
