Overplayed bill

I’m contacting you to dispute a roaming data charge of approximately £250 on my account.

I am currently travelling in the Philippines and have been using a local/eSIM for data during my trip. My Sky SIM was only briefly switched on at the very start of the trip and was then turned off. Since then, I have not intentionally used mobile data through my Sky SIM.

Despite this, my account shows continued usage of my UK data allowance and significant roaming charges, which is completely unexpected and does not reflect my actual usage. I did not knowingly use Sky mobile data while abroad, and I was not clearly made aware that background activity could result in charges of this scale.

Given the circumstances — minimal and unintentional usage, immediate switch to a local/eSIM, and the disproportionate cost — I believe these charges are unreasonable. I would like this bill reviewed and request that the roaming charges be removed or adjusted as a goodwill gesture.

Please let me know if you require any further information from me. I’d appreciate this being escalated to the appropriate billing team if necessary.

Hi @Olenka_david you aren't talking to sky CS here, just mainly fellow customers. As you have admitted that your phone has used the data and has been using background data then you will be liable for the charges. When you return to the UK you could try calling Sky to see if they are willing to offer any good will reduction but they could well say no.

@Olenka_david

As you admitted your mobile was switched on prior to a local sim being used you will probably have unwittingly racked up charges in what is a Rest Of The World location. Ideally the device should have been switched off prior to leaving the UK to ensure no charges so Sky are under no obligation to offset any of these costs you've incurred.
