There's no particularly good way of doing so.
It's extremely unwise to have a handset active on local cellular networks in any destination where £2 roaming isn't available.
For reference, £2 per day roaming only applies to the EU/EEA plus the countries listed in bold below.
The vast majority of global destinations are 'rest of world' rate and consequently hugely expensive.
