Mobile call charges when abroad

Morning

I'm looking to move to Sky mobile from another expensive provider and need to query the call charges when abroad. If me and my hubby are on UK mobile numbers, and I pay for the passport thing, if I call him whilst away (like in USA), do I get charged as per roaming costs, or would this come out of my UK allowance?

TIA

If you are in a passport plus location (for which the USA is) then you pay £2 for 24 hours access to your UK package (calls/data).  All Sky SIM's include 'unlimited' calls and texts - to 01, 02, 03 and 07 (UK) mobiles.

This allows you to call UK numbers for no additional call charges.  I believe the receiving phone would also be liable for the £2 charge.

Calls to local (US) numbers would incur international call charges.

Re: Mobile call charges when abroad

Hi

Thanks for this. So just to confirm, if I'm on sky and my hubby is on uk o2 (for example), they'd be no charge for me to call him in usa, but he might be charged by o2 for receiving call, is that right?

Sorry, I just want to make sure I'm fully aware before committing to a 2year contract.

Thanks

Once you've paid the £2 roaming passport then you can call UK numbers inclusive within your plan for no additional charge.

I'm not sure how roaming works for O2 - he could be charged for receiving calls (either a per minute or similar one-off daily charge).  He'd have to check his tariff terms.

Sky SIM contracts are 12 months.  (Even if your device plan is longer)

A 2 year device plan is called Swap12 (Not Swap24 as you may think)

There's also a month's cooling off period if you wanted to cancel it.
