Iphone 17 for daughter

I have got my daughter iphone 17 for Christmas has arrived today , I was wondering if I could activate sim now but wait till Christmas to change numbers as she will want to keep her old number but as its a suprise would have to wait till she recieved new phone to change over, can that be done?,

You have 31 days to activate the sim before it will automatically be cancelled and if it is you can just order another sim for her as you will not be charged for a cancelled sim.

@Clare148  You can change numbers any time provided by sims are still active 

note you can't change between sky numbers so you would have to port her number to a non sky sim then back to the correct sim at the appropriate time

...or simply do not activate any new dataplan and simply move the SIM from old to new phone.

Ok, if you want to move the number to the Sky dataplan then make sure you activate the Sky SIM within 31 days.  This will allocate a new number and you can obtain a PAC from Smarty later and migrate the number a little later.
