Whenever I make an outgoing call if it's not answered within circa 90 seconds it bleeps twice and disconnects; this is especially frustrating today as I'm trying to call the A&E Department of my local hospital after my elderly mum was admitted in the early hours of the morning.

Thats probably because the A&E department doesn't have multiple phone lines. Call the main hospital number as they'll have a call queuing system and should be able to give you an update

They were my first port of call at 9am, but all they're doing is transferring me to a voicemail which says it's only monitored Monday-Thursday, and despite me getting ever so slightly stroppy, they're telling me there's nothing more they can do. I have no objection to the waiting, it's Sky cutting off the ring out that is my issue as I've now developed this mental image of someone just picking up the phone in A&E as it disconnects.

Should be Monday-Friday not Thursday re the answerphone.
