Difficulty of Reporting a Convincing Scam on New SIM
Is there a reliable and efficient way of getting to talk to an empowered Sky support person without fear of being cut off repeatedly? I wanted to discuss a Scam issue on a new SIM card, but after being determined enough to reach a real support person it got really frustrating to be cut off at their end, and have to go back to square one - twice. After 90 minutes of trying I had to admit defeat.
The scam might quite convincing, as a text message is sent that appears to come from the same number used to send the original "welcome to Sky" messages. It advises that a Sky Bill has been charged that is higher than would be expected with a spoofed link to look like it will connect you to your Sky account. I thought it worth flagging this, and to get an explanation about why I am getting these messages on a new SIM that has not be used to make a call - and if necessary to get it changed if confirmed it is a reused number.
I know Sky aren't unique with all of these tactics to try to avoid direct contact with Sky employees, but it is really frustrating - especially when nothing gets logged, so you are back to square one when you have been cut off.

Re: Difficulty of Reporting a Convincing Scam on New SIM
@RedAnt2014 What exactly do you expect Sky, or for that matter any other mobile provider to do when you get these scam texts? They can't stop them coming to you.
Scammers will always spoof actual numbers.
All sims in existing will be re-used numbers are there simply aren't any new numbers available, this applies to all networks.

Please note I only provide help on the main forums and not via PM, PM's are switched off.

All mobile numbers are re-used: there aren't enough digits in them for the situation to be different.
Scammers would be able to hit the whole number range whether or not there's re-use.

Re: Difficulty of Reporting a Convincing Scam on New SIM
Whilst it's true the scammers could target any number, my other two Sky mobile numbers have never suffered in the way the new SIMs have suffered in such a short time. When you get repeated messages to the same person (not you) it is a bit disconcerting.
