Data abroad

I am away in albania. Ive turned my spend cap off. Says I've ran out of data. So notbing it working. however when I log onto the app it says I have 67GB of 70GB left?!

Hi @Lucyv  Albania is a rest of the world country for charging and will cost hundreds of pounds for a small amount of data useage. You probably reached your spend cap which is why your phone stopped working. Making a manual payment will probably get your phone working but you could end up running up a bill for thousands of pounds.

You are looking at these charges:

 

£2,160 per GB (yes this is correct)

£2.16 per minute Calls to local or UK mobile and landline numbers

£1.80 per minute to receive calls

£0.50 per text message to UK numbers and mobiles

£0.58 per picture message(MMS)

Just to clarify - that data does not count when roaming in a 'Rest of World' location.

 

As noted above, data consumed is charged separately based on usage.

I am just another Sky customer and my views are my own even if you don't like the answers

That's extremely unwise: the only realistic way to access cellular data in most of the world is to obtain a local SIM card.

 

For reference, £2 per day data roaming only applies to most of the EU/EEA plus the countries listed in bold below. 

 

The vast majority of global destinations are 'rest of world' rate and consequently extremely expensive.
