Convert to eSim - 2FA error "sending failed"

I need to convert my existing Sim card to an eSim to then transfer to a new device.

 

When navigating through the process under Sim options, I get to the Quick security check screen which correctly displays my Sky mobile number but when I click "Send security code" I get a red banner alert "Sending failed" and so cannot progress any further.

 

Same result on a desktop and mobile.
