Confusion about eSIM for iPad.

I am confused about eSIM. I ordered an iPad with no data plan, as I do not need the data and will be using Wi-Fi only. But recieved an email telling me my iPad requires an eSIM rather than a physical SIM card, and that I'll have need to have ordered an eSIM to use with it. Does this mean I won't be able to use my iPad without an eSIM? Do I need to buy one in order to use the iPad?

Hi @kipling  no you won't need an esim, you will be able to use it on WiFi without a sim.
