iPhone use a lot of data depending what apps they use. Many apps work in the back ground not just when you select them , even if the phone is just sitting in your sons pocket it sitll using data. Specially apps like the "Find me" app as you want to keep track of you son, this will use data all the time, as that is continually sending out the location of the phone, not just when that app is selected or when you look to see where he is. If you get the very cheapest sim deal it probably won't have much monthly data allowance and there if he runs out his allwannce and starts paying for extra data the bill will soon mount up. I presume your phone contract is with Sky. Most other networks offer a second sim contract at considerable discount, I am with Vodafone and have unlimited data sim for my iPhone for £28 a month and got a second unlimited data sim for just £16 month. I am also with BT for my broadband band and got unlimited data sim for my wifes iPhone with EE ( who are owned by BT) for just £17 a month. presume Sky don't do sim deals like this.
