Sky Go stuck downloading update

Have you tried my last reply (post 13), about switching off WiFi etc. It shouldn't work but it has resolved the issue for several people.

After 2 months trying to resolve this stupid issue I have finally got Sky Go working on my PC. Thank you @dayLondon. My PC, iPad and iPhone are all connected to a 4G router in my caravan. Sky Go worked on the iPad but the PC never has never got any further than the Downloading Update screen since last June. I disconnected the PC from the router wi-fi and connected it to my iPhone Personal Hotspot.  The iPhone was connected to the same router as the PC was! BINGO. Sky Go fired up to the usual Home screen after a brief "Checking for Updates" message. I disconnected from the hotspot, connected back direct to the router wi-fi and all is now well. It would appear that the solution to this problem is to try connecting to a different wi-fi device, even on the same network!

Update on previous post:-

Following a Windows 10 update the ridiculously unreliable Sky Go app failed again! First try it came up with a blank white screen which disappeared and closed the app after a few seconds. After 3 attempts I once again uninstalled the app and reinstalled it. Back to Downloading update again!!! 

The good news is that the previous solution of disconnecting the wi-fi and connecting to a mobile hotspot on a phone has worked for the second time. It looks like this will be necessary every time Microsoft issues a securty update to Wndows?!

I'm in the same boat as you tried everything suggested in these threads but without success.

Cancelling DD might work wonders.  That was funny, I had a good chuckle.

I had this very problem, but nothing here helped. 

I solved it myself, Sky Go does not like you using a VPN

Turn off your VPN , download completes in seconds

I wasn't using a VPN so that wasn't the orig problem. Seems like using one is a seperate fraility of Sky GO and the problem you had is unrelated to the one discussed here but good to know, thank you..
