Sky Go Not Working On Windows 11

I’ve been trying to get Sky Go running on my Windows 11 laptop, but I keep running into two main problems:

  1. The desktop app either displays a black screen or gives an error saying I’m on “Windows 6” and need to upgrade to Windows 10—even though I’m already using Windows 11.

  2. The web version doesn’t work either. I’ve tested multiple browsers (Chrome, Edge,), cleared cache and cookies, disabled extensions, and even switched networks, but it still won’t load or stream content.

This issue has persisted for over a month. It’s incredibly frustrating given the amount of time I’ve spent troubleshooting.

Here’s what I’ve already tried:

  • Registry edits to disable hardware acceleration

  • Full uninstall (including Cisco VideoGuard and AppData cleanup)

  • Compatibility mode (Windows 8 and 10)

  • Running the app as administrator

  • Creating a new Windows user profile

  • Updating graphics drivers

  • Adjusting display scaling and DPI

  • Forcing Sky Go to use integrated graphics

  • Testing the web player across different browsers and networks

None of these steps have worked, any help gratefully received

Re: Sky Go Not Working On Windows 11

Windows 11 problem for me as well. After upgrade the Sky Go app has disappeared. After the download phase when trying to restore something is blocking the "run" of the installer

Re: Sky Go Not Working On Windows 11

So here's a thing. I had exactly the same problem, when installing on a brand new PC and reinstalling did not fix it. Another thread suggests that AMD processors may be prone to this problem; I have an AMD Ryzen 7 6800H with Radeon Graphics.

A good friend, who has a Ryzen laptop, recently developed an identical problem. Being technologically very unsophisticated, he went for something I'd never have thought of. Via a Google search he arrived at the installer page on Sky.com Sky Go Installer | Sky.com and clicked on the "Start Watching Now" link. And it worked, as it did for me, after having to sign in and negotiate the bothersome "Checking for Updates" ritual, when I tried it.

If, while it runs, you pin the Sky Go app to the taskbar, you get a link to a version of Sky Go that keeps working. I've tried it several times now, most recently a couple of minutes ago.  Why this route should work when more orthodox ones fail is something I'll leave to the more technically adept - maybe even to someone from Sky who can update the app so that none of this rigmarole is needed.

Happy watching!😀

Re: Sky Go Not Working On Windows 11

I've just come across this thread having tried suiccessfully to install Sky Go on my Windows 11 PC. I tried the installer link in AH+Sportsfan's post and Lo and Behold I got past the Black Screen for the first time and the full Sky Go site was installed. HOWEVER, althou

ugh I could move around the menus every time I tried to go to a live broadcast or a recording the sound came but no picture.

Has anyone else experienced this? My grahics card and video drivers are upto date so it doesn't seem to be that.
