Re: Sky Go Error

@Fred1968

Go to Windows Update, update history. Scroll to the bottom and select uninstall updates for this update.  Pause updates for now so it does not come back.

Re: Sky Go Error

That's exactly what happened on my Lenovo. I was able to uninstall KB5121767 and Sky Go worked.

Let's hope Microsoft sort the issue as I have tried everything so far

Re: Sky Go Error

Getting the same error (0xc0000045) after the last Windows 11 update (July). Everything worked fine before.

Re: Sky Go Error

The Sky problem started with the 'Dell' update but that update although fixes some things for Dell machines, it was available to all users as a cumulative update

Moot point now as the latest Release Preview update 26200. 8968 also has the Sky problem

Re: Sky Go Error

Yes, my concern is that Sky didn't act, or work with Microsoft when they were made aware. In my instance the Sky Support suggested I contact MSoft.....which only compounded the issue.

MSoft technical staff appear unable to uninstall that 18/7 upgrade.

Re: Sky Go Error

hp laptop and started getting error error message 0xc0000045 on running SKy Go. Uninstalled Windows 11 update (KB5121767) and uninstalled Sky Go. Reboot and reinstall of Sky Go and working again so now paused updates until Sky fix the Go app for Windows. Thanks all to those that posted to confirm this fix worked for them.

Re: Sky Go Error

@Hammer909 how did you uninstall the MSoft upgrade? A number of us (and MSoft technician) ....have been unable to uninstall it?

Re: Sky Go Error

I did it from 'uniinstall updates' within 'install history' but was aware frrom the tread that this did not work for some . Pure speculation but given the update appears to be aimed at an issue with Dell ( https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/servicing/os/windows-11/2026/07/kb5121767-out-of-band ) but distributed to all I wonder if it is effectively dormat on non-Dell machines hence uninstall was able to complete on my hp laptop.

Let me know if you want more detail / logs / scvreenshots to assist troubleshooting witth MSFT.I don't appear to have permiissions to upload to thhis thread currently so cannot add here.

Re: Sky Go Error

@Amazin+Port

I uninstalled it by going to Windows Update -> Update History.  Scroll down and click on uninstall updates and select the update.  It seems there may be more than one update depending on your Sky build.  The last patch Tuesday was 14th July and was level 8875 which is OK, so if any update is showing with a later install date, I would restore that. Before doing that I would pause updates, and untick "get me up to date as soon as possible".

As I've posted before, I have 3 PCs on the 8894 level and all are working OK - 1 Dell laptop and 2 desktops. Uninstalling Skygo and re-install would be worth a try.  Latest level for that is 26.2.2.0

I did not run any cleanup actions after the installs and it may be that doing this has resulted in some people not being able to remove the update.

Re: Sky Go Error

Unfortunately that file didn't show in my Unistall List'.....I contacted MSoft, who remotely tried uninstalling (failed), tried resetting to earlier date and has managed to wipe all Windows settings.

Fiasco, made worse as neither Sky nor MSoft listened to initial problem (for their experts to work together)....they just suggested the other was to blame.

Re: Sky Go Error

Re: Sky Go Error

For those of you unable to remove the update, the solution is to do a repair install of Windows 11.  All your files, applications etc.are kept so there shouldn't be any issues.  I've done this a couple of times recently.. But please do this at your own risk and only if you are confident!.

First untick the box "get me up to date" in Windows Update

Then go to https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows11 and download a Windows 11 ISO.  Go to "Create Windows 11 Installation Media" and click on "Download Now".  When the box pops up select "run".

A copy will be downloaded. You can choose USB, in which case you'll need a USB flash drive with at least 8 Gb space, or you can select ISO and it will download the file to a disk location of your choice.

When complete, click on the "setup.exe" if you used USB. For an ISO file, first right-click in it and select "mount"..  A virutal DVD will appear and you then click on setup.exe as before.  Select the option to keep all your files etc.  Also select the option "not now" when it offers to incliude updates. When it's finished (can take up to an hour) you should be on the 8875 level.  If you used an ISO, you will need to right-click on the allocation and select "eject".

I'm currently running this on  my spare system and will report back if it works OK.

EDIT: It has now completed successfully and the system is on 8873 level.  Took 6 minuutes to download the ISO and just about 20 minutes to run.  Fairly new system build with not much software installed but it's back in my fully customized state.
