Re: SKY GO Crashing

I think I totally removed Sky Go from my desktop with REVO uninstaller.

Then I downloaded app from https://www.sky.com/watch/sky-go/windows.

Installed it and it ran OK.

It still works atm touching wood.

Re: SKY GO Crashing

Posted by a Superuser, not a Sky employee. Find out more

Give this a try:

Right-click on the Sky Go app and click on Compatibility.
Go to change settings for all users at bottom of pop-up.
Check the boxes "Run as administrator" AND the box beneath that says "Register this Program for Restart".
Click Apply.
This should take you to a screen where you have to sign into your Sky account.

Re: SKY GO Crashing

Tried again today. Downloaded app to win 11 desktop. ran install.

it said looking for updates

presented cookies screen

made selection and skygo crashes.

It runs ok on my iphone and an old windows 10 laptop.

it used to run on this win 11 desktop but now it is a totally useless bit of software on the current windows 11 pro os.

Re: SKY GO Crashing

I've got exactly this issue. Have you found a solution since your last post?

Re: SKY GO Crashing

Sky Go app closes on PC before it loads properly, tried uninstalling with Revo but still does the same. I've had this problem many times over the years, crazy it has not been fixed yet

Re: SKY GO Crashing

I formatted my laptop to figure out why the app closed after opening, did restore point save after installing Sky Go Beta and was working, had to hunt the download somewhere on this site, if a programme caused the bug I'd restore and try again until I found the programme causing it

It was Sony Vegas Video editing software that made it do that bug for me, if I uninstalled Vegas it would still do the the bug, you had to format the laptop again to get it working again but I just restored to before installing it

I turned my laptop into Duel boot pc by shrinking the HDD, one side for editing and one side for TV and stuff, its been working ever since, I always create a new restore point if programmes are working along side it

Re: SKY GO Crashing

Interesting

Though I don't have Vegas so something else is causing it, and I'm not formatting my PC just because Sky won't fix this issue. I might just move to Virgin.

Re: SKY GO Crashing

I have been dogged by this issue for years and just accidentally stumbled into a solution tonight.

1. Boot the app
2. Immediately minimise it
3. Leave for about 2 minutes until it gets to the Cookies Screen.

4. Accept and immediately minimise it again and leave for 2 minutes

You'll now find its gone to a solid blue screen with nothing happening. Close the app and relaunch it, and re-accept Cookies if it asks you for them. This means of looping it seemingly triggers the Windows Firewall alert to all you to accept the connection, and the Log-In screen pops up.

This is the first time I've ever got this to work on my laptop
