Re: Program information overlay not disappearing

Is the Sky Go app working as expected and the controls disappear when the app is not in full screen?

Works as expected check for updates and opens on home screen fine, problems start when attempting to view something, doesnt matter if minimized or maximised window. Sometimes if the screen is maximised the overly stays on screen but in minimised format (so like  a smaller screen within a larger screen a see my picture posted earlier in thread)

Do you have any apps that prevent the mouse cursor from going inactive (e.g. Wiggle) installed?

No, not that I am aware of as stated its a brand new windows 11 pc and Sky Go was one of the first apps i installed and I had problems from start.

I have has partial success by going to task manager and find Sky Go under apps and then look at Sky Go sub menu items and closing down one of the running processes 'sometimes' makes things better but never know which process to shut down.

Re: Program information overlay not disappearing

@Samrajthis issue has been discussed in another thread and resolved by enabling Hyper V services in Windows features. However, Hyper V services are only installed on Windows 11 PRO versions it is not available in the HOME version. There is a workaround to install but it is not recommended. Can this resolution be fed to tech dept as may assist in finding a solution to the overlay issue. Thanks

Re: Program information overlay not disappearing

I have now resolved this issue (yay). I have installed a programme called 'Oracle Virtual Box' on my win 11 Home pc and Sky Go works as it should. I came by this as it is an alternative to Hyper V (mentioned as a solution in another thread) which is available on Win 11 pc's but my home edition doesnt have that installed only PRO has it. Anyway download Oracle Virtual Box and it will work, has for me anyway.

Disclaimer - this worked 100% for me but install at your own risk obviously.

Re: Program information overlay not disappearing

No idea why having some virtualization tech available should matter here but having enabled this feature in Windows my sky go install has both started up way faster and the overlay appears to be working correctly for now

Thanks for sharing - I've fed this back to the team.

Hey, everyone!

The support team has shared that a probable fix for this issue should be made available in next month's update (release 25.3).

Thanks 👍🏽

Did this answer not help you?

Hi, everyone.

If you're still experiencing the issue on version 25.3.3, the support team have advised a potential workaround:

  • Press escape once to dismiss the overlay.
  • Then press escape twice to exit fullscreen mode.

Thanks.

Re: Program information overlay not disappearing

Yes, it works just like that on my older Windows 11 PC that I've updated to Win 11 24H2, however the behaviour on my brand new Windows 11 (24H2) PC the behaviour is completelty different; it loads up very slowly and then there is now no overlay at all, I can't maximise the screen and pressing ESC doe nothing, however the good news is that I can watch Sports in non-full screen mode without the overlay showing.

Could your guys test on a new Windows 11 PC?
