Being asked to do a manual software update as issues with viewing sky go away from home, do you loose your recordings on software update if done manually

Hi, no you will not loose your recordings from doing a manual software update.

A manual software update won't resolve any problems with viewing Sky Go away from home, as that's unrelated to your Sky box.

You can download recordings to another device before you leave and then watch the download.

@caesarome that's not what Sky have said, they said if you are signed in on skygo away from home and connected to another internet connection, you should be able to watch your recordings, you only need to download if you will not have any access to the internet !

That would require a Sky box to be able to render local content into a format suitable for streaming and then output it over your home internet connection, which Sky hardware absolutely cannot do. The only relatively widely available domestic device ever capable of such a thing was the now departed 'Slingbox' which had to significantly reduce resolution and could not handle encrypted commercial material.
