Error message 001 Sky Go on Mac

I am trying to use Sky Go on a new Macbook. I keep getting Error message 001. It worked previously but now will not. I have tried all the obvious things, uninstalling and reinstalling etc. I am paying for Sky Go and Sky Go Extra and am unable to use. Any ideas?

@LisaLisaGB

You could give this a try:

For MAC:

1. Delete Sky Go app from applications folder AND trash.

2. Open Finder then Go from top menu bar

3. Copy and paste one of these libraries and carefully seach for any Sky Go files or folders and delete them (then delete trash) :

~/Library/Preferences/

~/Library/Application Support

~/Library/Caches/

~/Library/Logs/

~/Library/LaunchAgents

~/Library/Cookies

~/Library/Group Containers

4. Then repeat with the next library and so on until all are searched.

5. Delete Trash.

6. Reinstall Sky Go for Mac from sky.com

7. Launch app

8. Sign in

Re: Error message 001 Sky Go on Mac

I'm having the same issue.

I have tried deleting all sky files and restarting several times as well as updating to the latest Sonoma 14.5 but nothing works. Any other suggestions out there?

Re: Error message 001 Sky Go on Mac

I have finally manged to get it to work @LisaLisaGB.

I typed Sky into the search box on Finder and deleted everything assocoiated with SkyGo. It picked up files that were not in the libraries I had searched previoulsy.

I then shut down my Mac, restarted it and re installed Sky Go from the Sky website and it has finally worked. I hope it works for you too.

And don't forget to delete the files from the bin as well.

Re: Error message 001 Sky Go on Mac

I have exactly the same problem.  I got a new macbook at the beginning of July and have lost count of the amount of times I have tried these fixes and deleting and re installing.  Still every time it opens I just get error 001.

Re: Error message 001 Sky Go on Mac

Have tried every single tip on here and have had the same advice repeated to me, despite having already done it. Attempted to call in, and was passed around for the best part of 3 hours whilst receiving minimal advice and being asked to repeat the steps I was advised to on here, starting to get to the point where i feel as though my subscription is not worth this level of hassle. Please could someone actually help me, as I travel a lot and need my sky go app in order to actually make my subscription worthwhile.

Re: Error message 001 Sky Go on Mac

I'm having the same issue. I can't even delete the app as it doesn't even show in the Applications folder.

I'm running a Mac Mini Pro M2

Re: Error message 001 Sky Go on Mac

It took me several attempts but you need to clear your Macbook cache of anything related to skygo bskyb or sky. It is possible but i needed someone in their tech support to talk me through it on a call. good luck!

Re: Error message 001 Sky Go on Mac

A follow up having spoken to Apple's Senior Support, they found me a proper fix.

For anyone still seeing this issue - please try the following:

1, From your desktop, select Go from the top toolbar

2, Press and hold the Option key on your keyboard **This is really important - it allows you to access folders on your Mac's Hard Drive rather than your user folder**

3, Select Library

4, Open the Application Support folder

5, Find the Sky Go folder

6, Move everything IN the Sky Go folder to your trash. **Don't take the enclosing folder, just its contents** - anecdotally, incase it helps somone identify the contents, the first folder/file in this folder for me is called "blob_storage" and the last is "WebStorage"

7, No need to empty your trash bin, just restart your Mac

When you next open Sky Go you should be given the option to select cookies and then log in.

Other advice I've found suggests searching for ~/Library folders - it may be a setting on my Mac or an update, but this opens up the Library folder within my user account, not the Hard Drive.

Hope this save someone months of frustration.
