Series Link

I'm thinking of switching from Sky Q to Glass

I'm a bit confused as regards recording series - my missus likes soaps can I still record multiple episodes and they will stay in my play list ?

Thanks in advance

@murphym00  Not sure never actually tried recording with glass but as far as playlist goes you pop your fave shows into it and each time there's a new episode it's there

Hi @murphym00

Glass and Stream doesn't record locally. Some channels record to Skys cloud and other channels point you to their catch-up service (e.g. BBC and ITV). So if you add say Corrie to your playlist and miss it you have to wait for it to be on ITVx. Although there is a watch from start feature of you miss the start of a show.

Here is an overview of how it works: https://www.sky.com/help/articles/your-playlist-and-tv-guide-sky-glass

Re: Series Link

You also have a Continue Watching Rail,? where the recent program you've watched goes to the front on the rail, very useful, the only problem is you can't delete (very annoying) you have to watch the program to the end, it's then deleted but if you don't like the series it keeps loading them, I just go to the end of the series FFW through the last program, that sorts it.

Is be suggested to have a delete option for ages but Sky don't take any notice

@Steve93  Hopefully sky will eventually have a delete option sometime

Hi @Steve93  I have been complaining about the lack of a delete function on the CW rail for the last couple of years.  I have even brought the subject up on the closed forum.  Whether or not a delete function will appear at any time in the future I don't know but it would definitely be an improvement to the platform.  We can always live in hope but suspect it is not at the top of their priority list at the moment.

We'll just have to wait & see, I've have Glass 2 nearly a year, had a few issues but suffered it myself,  would definitely NOT go back to Q

Re: Series Link

@Steve93  No point in going back to Q as that and the satellite license is ending in a few years due to cost apparently it's cheaper for Sky  and SES satellites and the satellites are Comming to there end of life so when my tv died last year I came over to sky glass earlier than planned from Q

Re: Series Link

Sky Glass is not fit for purpose. You can only add and delete whole series and not individual episodes. So, just as an example, if you wanted to record the 6pm news every night, that isn't a series with a definitive end or beginning so it will just keep recording every episode.... every night...on and on.... After it's been recorded, the most recent episode then goes to the end of the viewing rail so you have to scroll across every episode to get to the most recent. You can delete the whole series but if you press add again, it will add every episode from when you first started recording. In my case 16th January. Utter madness.

I spent 4 hours on the phone to Sky - shared with my son to preserve our sanity - in an attempt to get someone to tell me that this can't be right. The conversation went '....so in a year's time there will be 365 news episodes on my viewing rail to scroll across...?' Answer '...yes...'

Re: Series Link

@murphym00 depending on which soaps and channels you record, a Freesat recording box maybe worth considering. I use my old satellite dish that way.

Sky channels via Now TV may also be cheaper on shorter contracts

Former Sky HD+, Q and Stream customer
Now TV Sports + Entertainment + Cinema + Ultra Boost @ £31 pm (till October 2026)
1000/1000 FTTP (Digi) £15 pm
3 x Asus XT9 mesh

6 other streaming TVs
