The ITVX app isn't particularly good on any platform but I've personally not had any issues with it since I subscribed to ITVX Premium and use it exclusively on an Apple TV 4K box. We only watch on demand and abhor advertising of any kind so this suits us well. I've not had any freezing, skipping or sync issues at all.
The app is one of those memory hungry apps so does seem to benefit to being run from a dedicated streaming device, rather than being on a server and fed down a potentially fluctuating broadband connection to a customer's Glass TV or Stream puck. I always found Sky's ad-skipping to be problematic, despite us having a gigabit symmetrical network connection, so we chose to abandon SkyOS.
There are plenty of customers who have a perfectly functional Sky Stream and Glass service, so they must have perfect broadband and have their service running from a non-busy Sky server. Unfortunately there's no choice in what server your service runs from.
